Daniel is probably one of the most loved of all the Bible's Old Testament characters. Taken from his home in Jerusalem into Babylonian captivity around 600BC, he was an excellent example of why we are starting Camp Infinity. His refusal to eat the king's food and willingness to be tested for his God-given abilities in science and literature, would make him an excellent STEM student today. We are excited to be putting together the program for this summer's first STEM+Faith program @ Ci. Our focus is on the book and life of Daniel. I absolutely love his proclamation to King Nebuchadnezzar before he revealed the knowledge God had given him about the king's dream. "No wise men, enchanters, magicians, or astrologers can show to the king the mystery that the king as asked, but there is a God in Heaven who reveals mysteries."
This proclamation provides great insights into Daniel's character and discernment. It's an example of what we want the program of Camp Infinity to inspire in Christian young people. We are looking for youth in whom God has given an interest and ability in STEM. We want to teach and inspire them that this same God of Daniel, wants to use them in a foreign culture (today's evolutionary intrenched science community) to proclaim "there is a God in Heaven who reveals mysteries!"
We want Camp Infinity to be a unique place which helps prepare them to enter the "lion's den" of academic higher education in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math, so they are able to demonstrate that their gifts of knowledge and discernment come from this same God. In so doing, I believe these young people will have a similar impact as Daniel on the "kings of today" causing many to say, as did King Nebuchadnezzar, "How great are his signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion endures from generation to generation."
We are on a mission to find these Daniels of today and praying that God will enable them to be part of Camp Infinity's inaugural camp this July!
