Living Science Annual Excursion

Beaches along the ocean are full of life and science and mystery and intrigue. This week I had the privilege of experiencing the beach at St Simons Island, Georgia, from a very different perspective. The well-known Farmer's Almanac has this advice for when one goes to the beach.

A real friend is someone who takes a winter vacation on a sun-drenched beach and does not send a card.

I want to share this unique experience so I'm going to challenge their advice. :-)

This week, was Living Science Expedition 2014: Science on the Beach. The founder of Living Science, Lance Davis, invited me to join this unique expedition to experience first hand, STEM education + Biblical Servant Leadership done right. Living Science is a cool home school support organization in Atlanta, Georgia, which provides STEM education and servant leadership training to home schoolers. Each year they take a trip to the ocean and do really cool STEM activities. The thing that impressed me the most was their servant leaders (grades 10-12) who teach the younger students.

A few years ago the group traveled to the Galapagos Islands with Dr. Georgia Purdom of Answers in Genesis, to study biology from a creation world view. Georgia, who has served as an advisor to Camp Infinity, suggested I meet the founders, Lance & Penney Davis. I was quickly impressed with their love for God and passion to teach young people how to understand science from a biblical world view perspective.

Being around such godly servant leaders, gives me hope for the future of America. These young people are not only receiving a valuable STEM education, they are learning valuable, biblically-based leadership skills. Being taught an alternative worldview from evolution, they learn the essential skills of discernment and articulation. These allow them to give solid Bible answers to the skeptical "so called science" questions of their culture.

As the inventor of MRI scanning technology, my good friend Dr Raymond Damadian says "Evolution is a lie, designed to weaken people's faith in the accuracy of the Bible. It (evolution) is not science, but science fiction!" Here's a 2 minute video clip from Dr Damadian.

He also loves reading. Throughout his life he has been a dreamer, imagining a never ending series of what ifs and maybes. From a young age, God gave him a passion for learning all he could about the world around him.
