Ci Connects Families to the Creation Museum

One of the joys I have as the director of Camp Infinity is connecting families to the ministry of Answers in Genesis and the Creation Museum. I've loved this ministry for the past 20 years after being first introduced to it by one of my college students, Nathan Ham, son of Ken and Mally. I started Ci because I have a strong desire to see young people, especially ones with an interest in STEM, be equipped like Daniel of the Old Testament. So they are competent to stand before the kings of their culture and proclaim God's Truth and point them to Jesus Christ! The resources provided by AiG and the Creation Museum are tightly integrated into all of our camp programs at Camp Infinity.

Recently, while I was in South Florida to plan one of our Ci Mobile Robotics Adventures with a homeschool group, I went to see one of the families that Ci has connected to AiG. Here's a picture of me with Ethan and his mother.  

She shared with me the blessing it was for her to be a volunteer at the Creation Museum last summer while Ethan experienced Ci 1.0. Here is what she shared. I hope it might inspire other parents to consider volunteering while their children are at camp.

We traveled from Florida to Kentucky so my son, Ethan, could attend Camp Infinity.  I couldn't really drive home and back so had the privilege of volunteering at the Creation Museum while he was there.  I stayed in the volunteer house for free on the Creation Museum property and walked to volunteer every day!  It was a treat to be able to park my car and not have to drive for a week since I am a one parent household!

Staying at the volunteer house was like living with family (there were 7 of us there).  We ate together and shopped together and prayed together.  Ruth (the volunteer coordinator) and her husband even took us for a sight seeing tour of downtown Cincinnati during the week.  It was a wonderful bonding experience.  I made some lasting friendships while volunteering and continue to stay in contact with them.

I had the privilege of working in Noah's Café all week (there are a variety of opportunities) and honestly it was so wonderful. The team treated me like one of their own and it was fun to have a behind the scenes experience.  It made me appreciate so much what they do each day to meet the needs of those who come in to eat there while visiting the Creation Museum.

As a volunteer, we also had the privilege of sitting in on some staff meetings.  One day there was a group that sang for the staff.  It was beautiful and very inspiring.

One of the coolest things I got to do was to go into the Museum before it opened.  It was so amazing to be able to look at the Ebenezer dinosaur skeleton right up close.

Lastly, you knew when the Camp Infinity kids were at the Museum by their bright blue t-shirts and I was able to see how much fun my son was having with other kids who love Jesus and science.

I would recommend this experience to anyone.  It was such a blessing to me and very uplifting.  I hope to go back again and volunteer - hopefully with some of my new friends that I met last year.  Maybe I can even get assigned to Noah's Café again:)

I encourage families to consider a week of Ci for your children who have an interest in science, technology, engineering or math from a biblical worldview perspective.
