STEM—God’s Gift!

When many Christian parents hear of a STEM activity or event, they freeze. Understandably, they’re worried about the evolutionary emphasis that pervades our culture and seemingly everything related to science and even technology. But the “e” in STEM doesn’t stand for “evolution”! STEM is an acronym for “Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.”

God is the Creator of science. He designed the universe to operate in a logical, orderly fashion that we can study, observe, and make conclusions about. It’s because of our Creator that we can even do science! Young people, especially those interested in STEM, need to know the truth that they were created and that science glorifies God and confirms His Word.

That is what Camp Infinity (Ci) exists to do. Through summer camp programs, they show young campers how to view science from a biblical worldview perspective. Utilizing STEM, campers are encouraged to learn more about God’s creation through studying science and experimenting with technology, engineering, and mathematics. Ci believes that:

S - science comes from God! It’s by using science that we study His Creation and learn more about His character and nature (Romans 1:20). We glorify Him by discovering things He has placed in His Creation which benefit humankind.

T - technology is a gift from a merciful God that we can use to fight against the immediate effects of the Curse. For example, medical technology helps us prolong human life, giving people more time to respond to God’s love and mercy found in the person of Jesus Christ.

E - we glorify our Creator when we use our God-given creativity to engineer and build things. Being creative is a demonstration of the image of God in us (Genesis 1:27) as we follow in the footsteps of the ultimate Creator and Designer.

M - this is the glue that bonds S, T and E together. Mathematics is the perfect language and it communicates to us absolute truths about the universe. The precise order of mathematics points us to the One who ordered the universe, the God of the Bible.

At Ci we believe that Christians should not be afraid to embrace STEM. Actually, we think that Christians should be thrilled to embrace STEM! When young people are interested in STEM we need to nurture that love and help them to connect a biblical worldview with their love of science.

God’s Word provides the framework through which we can view the world. When we start with the history recorded in God’s Word, and view and interpret the world through that lens, what we see in the world makes sense. Young people need to be taught this basic biblical framework so that they can interpret the world properly. That’s where Ci comes in.

Camp Infinity offers summer camps in the greater Cincinnati area. Campers get to participate in hands-on STEM activities in areas such as robotics, biology, astronomy, and physics. And the activities and learning are different every year which keeps campers coming back year after year for more and more. Campers will learn from real PhD scientists who start with God’s Word, tour the world-class Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky, and even tour the Cincinnati Museum of Science to see the difference one’s worldview makes in interpreting the evidence. Although activities vary each year, they will do activities such as the following:  build robots, ride zip lines, go geocaching, dig for fossils, man a star ship simulator, go stargazing with observatory telescopes, learn to decipher fingerprints, and much more.

While they are learning all about God’s creation and science, young people will be developing a more biblical worldview. They will learn what the Bible says about origins and how this relates to science and technology. They will be challenged to use their love for science and their unique gifts to glorify God as they discover more about His creation. They will be equipped and prepared to defend a biblical worldview in a field that is extremely hostile to God’s Word and the gospel. And, above all, they will grow in their knowledge and love of Jesus Christ.

Compared with most camps, Camp Infinity has a very low camper to counselor ratio. These counselors are hand-picked for their love of the Lord, their love of science, and their dedication to God’s Word and a biblical worldview. They will nurture your child’s love for the Lord and for science as they delve into the Bible and science alongside their campers.

If your young person is interested in science and technology, consider sending them to Ci for a week packed with biblical worldview content and hands-on science learning. Your young person will return home with a renewed passion for science and for the Lord Jesus Christ. This is not an experience they will want to miss!
