Ci Fossil Sluice Opens at Ark Encounter

We are very excited to announce that the Camp Infinity sponsored fossil sluice is finally open at Ark Encounter! If you are planning a visit to the full-size Ark in Northern Kentucky you won’t want to leave without stopping to pan for your own fossil treasures to take home with you.

Here’s how the sluice works: young people and adults alike purchase a bag of dirt, empty it into a mining tray, and pan for fossils in an authentic mining sluice. Each person is guaranteed to find multiple fossils such as shark teeth or various shells to take home as souvenirs or to expand a personal collection. Each person also receives an identification card to take home so they can identify and learn more about the fossils they’ve found. This card gives a biblical perspective on fossils and explains how they are not the result of millions of years of slow and gradual process but are the result of catastrophic and rapid burial during the global Flood of Noah’s day.

The card also gives information about Camp Infinity, a unique STEM camp that takes place in the Northern Kentucky area. At Ci we teach science-minded young people to think biblically about history, science, and technology. We love science and want young people to love it too but to think from the starting point of God’s Word, the history book of the universe written by the eyewitness Creator. The fossil sluice we were able to sponsor highlights the fact that we do hands-on science but from a biblical worldview.

It also showcases our close relationship with Answers in Genesis, the creation-apologetics ministry behind the Ark Encounter. Ken Ham, president and CEO of Answers in Genesis, the Ark Encounter, and the Creation Museum, recently did a short Facebook live video about the sluice, Ci, and our partnership with AiG.

I want to say a big thank you to all those who donated to make the fossil sluice a possibility. Your generous gift will allow thousands of young people and adults to learn about fossils from a biblical worldview in a fun, hands-on way. It will also allow many more families to learn about Camp Infinity and our passion to raise up a generation of young people who love the Lord, His Word, and what He has made. Thank you!
