One of the exciting things about directing a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) camp is seeing the passion our campers have for what they are learning. Being around other young people with the same interests as them brings out a great deal of enthusiasm and builds lasting friendships and memories. It can even help give them focus on what they want to pursue as they continue in their education. And, of course, what they are learning is in the context of a biblical worldview and apologetics training. That’s what makes Camp Infinity (Ci) really unique!
Robert was a camper at a past camp who is joining us as a counselor for Ci 4.0. We’re excited to have him back in this new capacity! He shared his Camp Infinity story with us:
Growing up I was often the odd kid out. My favorite things to do involved reading books or conducting whatever wacky experiment I could come up with. Because of this, I was often teased or separated from my fellow students. This, I am happy to say, is not the mentality at Camp Infinity.
Several years ago, I was able to attend Camp Infinity’s Overnight Youth Camp offered at the Creation Museum. I had not had good experiences with other camps before, but I had heard that this camp was different. Going to Camp Infinity turned out to be one of the best opportunities I have ever been given. Not only did I learn more about what I was passionate about, but I also met other people that were just as passionate as me.
My camper group had about six or seven guys counseled by an electrical engineering major named James. James was one of the best counselors I have ever had. His influence led me to pursue my own degree in engineering. His deep care for his campers was evident, and he went out of his way to encourage us and answer our questions.
The guys in my group came from all over America along with one from Canada. We all had different interests, but we all wanted to be there. Some of my fondest memories took place at dinner. As you can probably imagine, given what we liked doing, our conversions got a little bit geeky. The talks ranged anywhere from World War II aircraft to the Starship Enterprise’s warp drive. The people and the friendships made were definitely the best part of Camp Infinity.
I want to add a special thanks to the staff of Camp Infinity. They are among the most remarkable people I have ever met. Their passion for their work is only overshadowed by their desire to serve the Lord. Camp Infinity has been greatly blessed by God, and I look forward to seeing where the camp will go in the future.
I encourage you to consider Camp Infinity for your science-minded or academically-driven young person. It’s a life-changing experience you won’t find anywhere else. You can apply or learn more at CampInfinity.com/Camps.
