I recently had a phone conversation with a mom from Indiana who was considering sending her inquisitive nine-year-old to one of our camps this summer. As many moms rightfully are, she was concerned about the physical safety of her little girl while away from home at camp. We had a great conversation and I was able to put her mind at ease by explaining the training and precautions we take at Camp Infinity (Ci)—at the end of our conversation, she decided to enroll her daughter.
My assistant, Emily Barney, handles safety at Ci. And, let me tell you, as the mother of two boys, she takes safety seriously. In addition to her vital role at Ci, Emily is the Children’s Ministry Director at her local church, which has over 300 children in attendance, so she has plenty of practice with safety and safety training.
This year we have fourteen camp counselors, all of whom must complete and pass background checks before they can work with the kids. Before camp begins they go through a week of training which includes doing all the activities the campers will be doing, learning to answer questions, and taking child safety training which is based out of the well-known From Darkness to Light curriculum.
Here are some examples of the safety precautions we take at Ci:
Rest assured, moms and dads, your child is in a very safe environment at Ci. During one of our summer camps, your child will have a fun-filled week of apologetics and biblical training coupled with plenty of hands-on STEM learning. It’s a combination you won’t find anywhere else!
