I recently travelled back to Northern Kentucky from my home in Greenville, South Carolina to finish up a few things from Ci 4.0 and start making preparations for Ci 5.0—we have to start our plans a year in advance! As I was heading home, I happened to check my email and saw a message from a camper’s mom. Here’s what she wrote:
We had a house fire recently and we lost a lot including our pets—praise God, we are all ok. My son is upset about his wooden Camp Infinity [Infinitude Award] that they got during the closing ceremonies and I was wondering if you had any extras that you could send us? It meant a lot to him. Thanks for being such a big and special part of his summer.
I was very sad and sorry for this family’s physical loss, but so touched that her son thought so highly of his award and his time at camp. Now, as only God could orchestrate, I was there in Northern Kentucky that weekend. I contacted the gentleman who makes the awards and he made a special new one just for this young camper and I was able to take it home with me and send to him. We really do love our campers and I was thankful we were able to do this one small thing for this young man after their devastating loss.
This story was a reminder to me of how our infinite and sovereign God directs the daily steps of over 7 billion people in ways that bring Him glory every minute of every day. He had me in just the right place, at just the right time, to be able to get that award for this young camper to help put a smile on his face after their loss. I’m thankful we serve a God who is in control.
