Camp Director's Perspective

The life and work of a camp director is to say the least exciting and rewarding. I'd like to share part of that perspective in the hope of connecting with other parents who have children that would benefit from our unique approach to STEM & faith through the camp experience.

We like to say we attract "smart kids". To Ci, a smart kid is one who 1) loves to learn 2) doesn't give up easily. It is not necessarily reflected in his/her grades in school. We believe these two qualities in a person bring glory to their Creator, Jesus Christ. God has gifted each child with certain abilities, interests, passions. Our unique camps are designed to bring out the best in kids like this. Each summer we create a new program by carefully selecting a different STEM theme. Be it energy or biodiversity or space or sports science or the environment, we look for a theme that will inspire any young person who loves to learn and loves God's Word. 

As a result, after four years of summers camps with this unique design, we have found our campers share many of the same characteristics. I though the best way I could give parents a clearer idea of what our camps are like is to share some of the comments that parents have shared with me when filling out our camper application. Much like college, we strive to make sure our camp is a good fit for each campers who applies. Therefore, the first step in coming to one of our camps is to apply. We then review the applications and extend an acceptance email to those for which we believe Ci is a good fit. 

Two of the questions we ask in the application are

1. Why do you think your child would enjoy Camp Infinity? 
2. Tell us a little about your child's interest in STEM

Here are some of the things parents have shared with us which will help you understand the type of young people that love our unique style of camp. 

He loves science.  He went to Camp Infinity for the first time this past summer and he LOVED it.  He is very excited at the opportunity to attend next summer.

He loves science and the mechanics of how things work.  He's really fascinated with robots and would like to have his own robotics company when he grows up.  He enjoys machinery and how it operates.  He loved camp this summer and is counting down the days until camp next summer.

He's loved creating and doing science experiments since he was tiny.  He likes to see how things are put together and how and why they work.

She is a very bright 18 year old. Her goal is to become a computer software engineer but she also has an intense interest in all the sciences. As a Christian, she was fascinated by last year's speakers on evolution particularly about the MRI and the specifics about why we cannot have been descended from apes.

She is intelligent, curious, loves science, enjoys math, an avid Lego builder, and has just recently begun to start learning to code. She is a Christian and wants to understand more about the world around her and how God designed it all to work the way it does.

She loves seeing how things work and understanding the why behind the machine. She has always loved math and experimenting with science kits we've bought for her and then she will venture out on her own to try other things.

She has a natural curiosity toward science and math and she loved participating in the Robotics Camp for the last two years.

She is thrilled by science. She has a love for learning and discovery and, more importantly, a passion for apologetics. She plans on combining these two by majoring in Geology at Cedarville University.

This will be her fourth time coming to Camp Infinity. She loves it more and more every year. It has made a profound impact on her life and she used what she has learned in countless ways for the Kingdom.

I wanted her to get an outlook on what STEM is about.  She is interested in going to college for Mechanical Engineering. I want her to get a broad stroke of all the engineering fields, I think Camp Infinity would be a great springboard for that.  Maybe by doing this she can see where God wants to take her. That in my prayer.

She is a science and math geek.  She is very inquisitive.  She absorbs all types of math and science and hopes to be a biomedical engineer.  She took 2 science classes last school year and 2 math classes the prior year so that by the time she is a senior, she will probably take college math and science.

She loves to learn about creation science. She has lots of questions! A whole week of hands on science would be a perfect fit. I believe she would discover new friendships with others of common common interests. It would be a great experience for her!

She enjoys science, and attended and enjoyed Ci last year.  She would like the interaction with other students and the teachers at Ci again.
