Fact, Fiction, or Future

Fact, Fiction, or Future is the brainchild of Camp Infinity Founder Dan Wooster as a way to educate campers on how popular culture impacts science and technology. The talk debuted at an evening meal during Overnight Camp 1 of CI 4.0. Topics such as warp drives to space battles were examined from both a scientific viewpoint and a biblical one. The campers were given certain scenarios and asked whether the results were fact, fiction, or future. They were then given the chance to discuss as a group before being shown the answer. Some of the answers were surprising even to the counselors! The first talk and those during the following weeks were very successful, and some of the campers favorite moments.

This summer, thanks to more time, the entire talk was streamlined. Divided into two portions occurring through lunch and dinner, campers had the opportunity to discuss weather control, brain computer interfaces, teleporters, and space weapons. The unique nature of this talk comes from the fact that each topic is viewed through a biblical lense. The campers were taught to look not only the benefits of an idea but also how they lined up with scripture and the Christian walk. As with all Camp Infinity programs, the focus is always on how to equip campers to defend their faith. This first talk of the Camp Infinity 2018 summer season was received with critical acclaim, and comments from campers were very encouraging. The talk is scheduled to continue for both Overnight 2 and 3 in the coming weeks.
