Beating the Winter Blues: the Ark Encounter, Career Night, and Robotics

Are you ready for sunny days, pool parties, BBQs, and warm, pleasant evenings? We sure are! And we’re extra excited for winter to end and summer to arrive because summer means camp and camp means hands-on STEM activities, biblical apologetics training, fellowship with campers, counselors, and teachers who all love STEM, delicious food, and more.

To help you beat the winter blues we’ve been previewing some of the things you can expect this summer at Ci 5.0 such as a fossil hunt, zip lining, and stargazing. Well here are a few more things you can start looking forward to:

Tour of the Ark Encounter. All of our overnight campers will tour the 510-foot-long reconstruction of Noah’s Ark in Williamstown, KY. The Ark is packed with three decks of exhibits that show how Noah could have fed and cared for the animals, how he and his family may have lived, the science behind the Flood and its aftermath, sculpted animals (some of which represent extinct kinds that have never been sculpted before), and so much more.
Career Night. During our overnight camps, we have “career night,” a time for the counselors, all of whom are studying or working in a STEM field, to share their passions and tips for how to choose a major and a school. Campers can ask questions and get some guidance in the next steps for their career path. We’re excited about career night because we believe it can really help campers discover their passions—and maybe even hear about a field they’ve never thought of before.
Robotics. No Camp Infinity camp would be complete without robotics. Using Lego Mindstorm EV3 robots, campers will work in teams to build and program a robot. This not only introduces campers to robotics (or builds on what they’ve learned previous years), it encourages teamwork and cooperation, vital skills in any STEM field.
